G-Dragon Shines Bright at the ‘2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon’

On the 25th, the 2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon took place at Incheon’s Inspire Arena. The event was hosted by IVE’s Ahn Yujin, NCT’s Doyoung, and TXT’s Yeonjun.

Toward the end of the broadcast, the long-awaited appearance of G-Dragon captivated the audience. This marked G-Dragon’s return to the Gayo Daejeon stage after eight years, his last being with BIGBANG in 2016. Following his performance at the 2024 MAMA Awards in Japan’s Kyocera Dome Osaka last month, this was his second major year-end festival appearance.

During the broadcast, Yeonjun introduced G-Dragon by saying, “I grew up listening to his music as a child,” while Doyoung added, “This will undoubtedly be a performance that perfectly concludes Gayo Daejeon. A living legend who dominates the stage simply by his presence—none other than the irreplaceable G-Dragon.”

Amid thunderous cheers from the audience, G-Dragon took the stage to deliver a passionate performance of his new song “POWER”, along with “Sober” and “Crooked.”

Following G-Dragon’s spectacular finale, all 29 artists who performed at the event gathered on stage to greet the audience, adding a warm conclusion to the year-end festivities.

Notably, G-Dragon was voted as the number-one choice for the title of “My Santa Claus Idol”, proving his enduring popularity. Reflecting on the honor, G-Dragon humbly remarked, “I’m G-Dragon, the ‘Favorite Idol’ chosen at Gayo Daejeon. At first, I thought it meant ‘Favorite Old Idol.’ I guess this means I’m still an idol,” he joked, eliciting laughter. He continued, “Thank you, everyone—kids, older sisters, older brothers—thank you all!” sharing his heartfelt gratitude with a smile.
